Elkhorn Valley Whole Pellet Bedding

Close up view of whole pellet bedding.

In animal bedding, quality is everything. In producing our Elkhorn Valley Animal Bedding, we start with only clean, kiln dried softwood scraps. We closely monitored quality at every stage of production to ensure you get clean, fresh, super absorbent bedding in every bag.

Clean, kiln dried, softwood is received in a covered load bay and ground immediately in a 2-step process. Softwood meal is segregated in overhead bins by type and source. Batches are weighed out and moisture checked. The bedding meal is then transferred to overhead bins for pelleting. The meal is pressed through dies with small holes to form pellets, greatly densifying the material. Lignins in the wood act as a natural binder, holding the pellets together. Pellets are cooled then pass through a screener to remove fines.

Product Summary

Elkhorn Valley Whole Pellet Bedding is made from clean, kiln dried softwood (predominately pine), ground to increase absorbency, then pelletized to increse density.  Pellet density will range from 40 to 46 lb per cubic foot.  Pellets are screened to remove fines, then packaged in 40lb poly bags, 50 bags to a pallet. Every pallet is covered with a 4 mil, UV protected shrink cover to make a tight, moisture resistant load.    Whole pellet bedding is ideal for large animals (e.g. equine, beef and swine).  It suppresses odors, makes cleanup easy and doesn't stick to coats.
